While Teaching Institutions look to earn revenue from the empty seats in their online courses, they frequently overlook the greater opportunity to earn revenue as a Home Institution through revenue sharing and increased retention. Revenue sharing often allows Home Institutions to earn more revenue on a given course than the Teaching Institution, and over the last two years Home Institutions have earned 2X more tuition revenue than Teaching. Increased retention allows Home Institutions to earn additional revenue far into the future, as each retained student continues on the path to completion. His have generated over $250,000 per year in revenue for retaining students via unavailable courses located in the Academic Sharing Platform.

Accordingly, to maximize revenue, all Teaching Institutions should also participate as Home Institutions.
